While at the show...

To make it a meaningful educational experience, we recommend that the students have a defined goal in mind when visiting the show. For example:

• Find & record Canadian minerals found at the show
• Follow up research on a really interesting mineral
• Find, list & research different types of quartz
• Find one mineral & try to find how many locations it is found in the world
• List 3-5 fossils, where they were formed & how old they are
• Describe an example of Canadian-made jewellery created from gemstones
• Indicate how & why the colour wheel was used in the jewellery design
• Describe how balance & symmetry, or lack of, was used in the jewellery design

Overview:

The Ancaster Gem, Mineral, Bead & Jewellery Show will be held October 4 to 6, 2019. On the Friday of the show, high school groups are invited to book a time to visit the show. The show is open to the public, so a very limited number of high school groups will be able to attend.

• Recommended stay is 2 hours
• Each school group is to be directed by their own teachers/parent volunteers
  
• Cost per student is $6.00 plus HST (regular show admission is $8.00)
• Complementary free admission to teacher, parent supervisors and bus driver
• Food services are available or bring your own snack/lunch
